I was really excited to knit this hat. I thought I would use the basic pattern of a pilots hat and turn it into a wolf. I added fake eyes and sculpted a nose from sculpty. Then I just kept on adding on more knitted elements until... Ta Da! A Wolf Hat. I had the most fun figuring out a pattern to knit around the neck or maybe wearing between each step.
