Whew! It's been a busy two weeks...
I learned about the Threadknits contest when it was featured on Craft: only two weeks ago. I browsed the Threadless website, looking for a design to work from and immediately happened upon The Scare List design, just begging to be made into a blanket. It's 15 days later, and voila! Here it is!
I crocheted each phobia onto its own square, taking some creative liberties here and there. The little guys on the homophobia square are holding hands. Mickey Mouse is (in my opinion) scarier than the average field mouse. I added my own personal phobia - claustrophobia - to the bottom right corner. And the clown...oh, the clown. He's got scary curly hair and a puffy pompom on his hat. And don't even get me started on the bird. Birds are...shudder.
So I've got some phobias. Who doesn't?
But the little pile of poo is just cute. Who could be scared of a pile of poo?
Most of my creation pictures were captured at my local bar, where they happily tolerate my strange habit of crocheting in public. Thanks, Rocky Flats Lounge - this one's for you!
The blanket measures about 5.5 foot square and is made of 25 individual granny squares surrounded by a border. All the designs are applique and are my original patterns.
